Brussels
Last weekend myself and some friends from uni went to Brussels, Belgium, for an easy weekend city break! When I say easy, that also means cheap, i.e. easy Eurostar, cheap (yet trendy) Airbnb, and some spending money!
I have been to Bruges in Belgium before (see post here), and although I maybe wouldn't rush back to Brussels any time soon - how many chocolate shops and gold facades can one see? - it is a lovely city and we had the best time.
WHERE TO STAY, EAT & VISIT
Airbnb
Our Airbnb was a converted loft at the back of a warehouse, which was a tad creepy when we first arrived but we soon saw the 'cool', 'trendy' and ever so 'hip' side.
Peck 47
A yummy brunch only enhanced by the 500 Days of Summer poster on the wall and cool light fittings.
Royal Palace of Brussels
A bit of a trek from the centre of the city (the Grand Place) yet worth the visit for the stunning interior, and its free - woo!
St Michael and St Gudula Cathedral
What's a city break without visiting a church or two?
Galerie de la Reine
A gallery full of high brow shops, chocolatiers and tourists.
Other Recommendations: Grand Place, City Hall, Mannekin Pis, Dille & Kamille.
