Amsterdam

Last week I went to Amsterdam! It is a city I have wanted to visit for a while now and, all the stereotypes aside, it has a lovely chilled atmosphere with great sights to see.

We stayed at the Rho Hotel just off of Dam Square which was the ideal location. Would recommend!

THINGS TO DO:

Amsterdam Canals

The canals run throughout Amsterdam and offer a different perspective to an otherwise normal city. We took a canal cruise trip around the central areas which is good to do for an hour or so!

The Nine Streets

With lovely home decor shops, a favourite being Depot 304, as well as cute bakeries, the Nine Streets is an area you can't miss.

PLACES TO DINE AND DRINK:

Mappa

We asked our hotel for restaurant recommendations, ones less tourist-y and more favourites of the locals. Mappa is a lovelyyy place for dinner with fresh food, yummy cocktails and beautiful interior.

Stach

Stach has lots of small deli shops dotted around the city, but Stach Cafe is where food is served. Mainly breakfast and lunch, the fresh food at a reasonable price will give you enough energy to continue walking, sightseeing and picture-taking.

Kessens

Another cute cafe to drink coffee and eat cake!

Other Recommendations: Anne Frank House (pre-book online before otherwise you have no chance of getting in!), Vondelpark, Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh museum, 'I Amsterdam' sign, Westerkerk, Dam Square.
